About The Lion's Roar...
We are a small international charitable organization dedicated to raising awareness and improving the lives of animals in captivity. Founded by storyteller Laura Simms in 2002 with Jane Sanderson of the UK and Sue LeBoutillier of Dubai, we have successfully re-homed all the animals from a zoo in Northern Romania. After years of filth and fear in appalling conditions in a Romanian Zoo, our two dingoes were offered temporary relocation in Pantera Sanctuary in Holland. It took months for Lena and Janice to relax and gain their health. Now, we are sending them home. Through the hard work of our Australian partner Linda Mira-Bateman the dingoes can have a permanent and caring home in the Jirrahlinga Wildlife Sanctuary. Today you can help.

ROMANY AND GYPSY THRIVE IN HOLLAND
THE LIONS ROAR PAYS FOR FOOD, MEDICINE AND CARE

When we arrived in Buhusi Zoo in 2003, there were two disabled lions surviving in a small, concrete cold cage with barely enough food and no medical attention. With heaters, better diet and attention we watched them begin to find some enjoyment and relief from pain. We became aware of their remarkable affection for one another. In 2006 the zoo closed. With great effort, we were able to rehome the four other lions in Africa. No one wanted disabled creatures and we feared for Romany and Gypsy who had won our hearts and the hearts of the Romanian children. Pantera Sanctuary took a chance and our "couple" moved to a new home with grass and platforms, good food and care. They are thriving. Each month we pay for their food and care.
