PLEASE READ THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY
OF
ROMANY & GYPSY

Lion's Roar is raising funds for food for two lions who've been rehomed at Pantera Sanctuary in Holland. Be lionhearted and help them continue to thrive by donating today.

THEIR STORY:

Romany & Gypsy were given to the zoo when their photogenic cuteness was no longer of use to those making pennies from tourists. They were badly fed and confined to small spaces. Hence, they had malnutrition that has caused deformities. Lion’s Roar brought vets and supplemental care to these wonderful friends. They had never felt earth and grass beneath their paws, or been able to stretch their backs and walk beyond the limited space of their concrete cage in Buhusi.

However, in April 2009, we managed to move Romany and Gypsy from appalling zoo conditions, to Pantera Big Cat Sanctuary in Holland. This could not have been achieved without the generous support of James and Annabel Lewis, who funded most of their relocation.

The lions have settled into their new home. Their grassy enclosure has various platforms for them to climb on and an indoor area for sleeping. Gypsy is often seen on the highest platform, surveying her surroundings, whilst Romany keeps his eye on the young, playful tiger next door. But our work is not done.

Lion’s Roar is committed to paying 7 euros a day for meat, for the 2 lions. Although we are continuously fundraising to meet this cost, we are looking for sponsors for these gentle lions.

Their story will continue to get better. Pantera Sanctuary is building a new expanded area. The lions will have more space and a better life within one year.
