A male and female dingo living together in one cage have been moved to Pitesti Zoo in Romania on Dec. 15th. We urgently need to find homes for the two remaining dingoes.
Dingo Appeal
In April 2009, our two last dingoes from Buhusi Zoo, Romania, were rescued and transported across Europe to Pantera Sanctuary, in Holland. They had spent their entire lives pacing in damp, concrete cages at the Buhusi zoo, fed only a diet of frozen chicken wings. The dingoes are the descendents of an original breeding pair gifted to President Ceausescu by visiting politicians and have been given little care or attention during their sad lives.
Pantera is a temporary solution to their problems. Conditions there are not really suitable for dingoes but they do at last have proper diet and veterinary care. Their progress is being monitored and we are hoping to move them on again soon – this time ‘home’ to Australia. A specialist wildlife sanctuary has offered them places with other rescued dingoes, in large open-style enclosures where they could feel grass under their paws for the first time. They would be able to join a group of animals and re-learn how to behave with their own species again.
Please can you help us to find
a permanent solution for our dingoes?
